What is a Green-Source diamond?

A Green-Source diamond is a natural diamond that makes the world a better place. It comes from legitimate mines that create real benefits for local communities — such as hospitals, schools, roads, clean water, and improved life expectancy. A Green-Source diamond is not just a diamond from anywhere. Its origin is known, verified, and meaningful.

The Green-Source Diamond Hallmark is a brand standard that certifies a diamond meets strict ethical sourcing requirements. It guarantees that the diamond contributes positively to society and complies with the three Green-Source ethical sourcing pillars: human rights protection, community benefit, and financial transparency.

Millions of people, especially in Africa, depend on natural diamonds for their livelihoods. Green-Source diamonds ensure that diamond mining supports economic development and improves living conditions rather than causing harm. Choosing Green-Source diamonds helps sustain communities and responsible industry practices.

Green-Source diamonds follow three strict pillars:

  1. No human rights abuses in mining or manufacturing.

  2. Community Benefit for the communities where diamonds are found.

  3. Financial transparency to prevent money laundering and terrorist funding.

These pillars ensure that Green-Source diamonds are ethically responsible from mine to consumer.

Only legitimate mines and companies that meet strict ethical standards can qualify for the Green-Source hallmark. Mining and manufacturing operations must demonstrate compliance with labor protections, human rights standards, and responsible business practices.
Green-Source standards require that communities on whose land diamonds are found receive fair financial benefits. Mining companies must also restore and reclaim the land after mining, post bonds where required, and ensure long-term community well-being.

Financial transparency is a core requirement of the Green-Source standard. All transactions must be traceable and compliant with international financial regulations to ensure diamond revenues are not used for illicit activities, money laundering, or terrorist funding.

Green-Source diamonds are scanned at the mine and uniquely identified. Their data is recorded on secure blockchain platforms such as Tracr™. The diamond is scanned again at the factory and matched to its original mine scan. The diamond is repeatedly scanned throughout the manufacturing process, insuring the polished diamond originates from the specific rough diamond. When graded (for example, by GIA), the polished diamond can be physically matched to its original rough source, ensuring full traceability.

Unlike diamonds of unknown origin, a Green-Source diamond has verified traceability, ethical compliance, and documented community impact. It offers not only quality in color, clarity, and cut — but also ethical quality. It carries emotional added value: the knowledge that it made the world a better place.
A Green-Source diamond represents commitment not only to a loved one, but also to social responsibility. It bridges the gap between the world’s poorest communities and its wealthiest consumers — moving resources responsibly and ethically. Choosing Green-Source diamonds reflects values, purpose, and the idea of “tikkun olam” — helping to fix the world.
